My second Warhammer Fantasy army: Orcs & Goblins

Well, here we go again. This time, I am going to take a look at the Orcs and Goblins as my second Warhammer Fantasy army. So with that, let’s take a look at the good.

While I am not really into Goblins, the Orcs have a lot of character. They are a brutal, was focused race, and this aspect even comes across in the rules. They also have a good humor about them, while still being a force to be taken very seriously. They also have a host of very cool miniatures, such as the River Trolls, Black Orcs, and the Boar Boyz, as seen below.

All three of these plastic kits are fantastic, and have a lot of conversion potential. On top of that, the Black Orcs are one of my all time favorite GW kits, and I love the idea of a Black Orc warband, and focusing more on the elite units will also help to keep the miniature count lower. Another bonus of Orcs is that I get to switch up my pallet, and I have always enjoyed painting green.

Here is some very cool art, and I one of the things I love about Orcs is the customization that they offer. I can really go to town on conversions to make my Orc Warlord look unique, along with any other characters I choose to include. On top of all this, there is also the option of using the 40k Ork bodies and other bitz from the range to add even more variety to the army. This is a very appealing idea to me, as I can make the entire army unique and stand out.

Again, with the good comes the bad. One of the downsides to this army is that they can very easily become a horde army. This is, of course, one of the things I really want to stay away from, as I already have my Skaven. Hopefully this can be avoided with the inclusion of lots of Black Orcs, but it is still a concern. Another problem is the plastic kit for the the Orc boyz is less than fantastic. Not to say it is a bad kit, it isn’t, but it isn’t one of the best. Hopefully I could fix this with the inclusion of Ork bitz from the 40k range like I said before.

Next time, I will take a look at the Warriors of Chaos, and all the potential they have. Until then.
